Robert's character & his episodes:
Colonel Marshall Sumner (good guy). Robert Patrick plays Colonel Marshall Sumner, a by-the-book marine leader who reports to the civilian Dr Weir and isn't too crazy about the idea that the somewhat flaky Major John Sheppard is going on the mission to the Pegasus Galaxy with them. Sumner is captured by the evil Wraith who feed on their victims. Rather than having a civilian singled out by his captors, he volunteers to be taken to the wraith known as The Keeper who tortures him to find out where he is from and to get the location of Earth, a potential new feeding ground. Sumner has the life sucked out of him and ages rapidly but does not give up the location of Earth before Major Sheppard shows up and puts the dying military leader out of his misery with a bullet and also kills the wraith who was feeding on his life.

For years mankind has been visiting other worlds by using an ancient device called a stargate, found in Egypt. Research has shown the stargates have been built by an advanced race called the Ancients. Now another stargate has been found on Earth, in an Ancient base on Antarctica. Scientists think this may have been the lost city of Atlantis and it is found out certain people have an Ancient gene that activates the technology. Dr. Rodney McKay has a different idea. He finds out this particular stargate is able to dial to another galaxy, the Pegasus galaxy, where Atlantis really might be. A team of scientists and military officers decide to explore this location. There's only one problem, powering the device requires a Zero Point Module, currently used for the defense of Earth. There's only one available and returning might not be possible.
